We're not going to beat around the bush with this story. This is the new Golf R, driven by bild.de in Scandinavia.
It's still not a fully built prototype, which explains why it looks like a regular Golf in places, but it does explain a little bit what's going to happen.
Firstly, if you're in love with the current R's twin exhaust tips in the middle of the car, take a good look at them because they are going away. Instead, of that arrangement, the new R has quad exhausts, a little bit like Audi's S4/S5 models.
The new Golf R will reportedly have 290 PS coming from a revised 2-liter turbo TSI mated to 4Motion all-wheel drive and a DSG gearbox. It will arrive at the beginning of 2014 and will start at €38,000.
