Nissan Leaf Battery Status Check by Telenor

Aside for bringing a breath of fresh air to the choking automotive industry, electric vehicles will also spawn a new owner experience for their buyers. From now on, owning a vehicle will forever change, the car becoming a part of the owner's daily life.

For instance, whereas up until now you didn't care how much gas you have left in the tank until you actually got into the vehicle, knowing how much juice is left in the battery of the Leaf for instance is essential to properly complete the journey you plan to take.

To help owners know the status of the battery, Telenor Connexion announced today the introduction of a dedicated telematics solution which will allow Leaf owners to check the status of the battery by using a mobile phone or a computer, as well as remote control over some of the car's systems.

The system works in conjunction with the Nissan CARWINGS Data Center, showing the owner relevant data about and control over battery state monitoring, usage history and air-conditioning remote control.

"Telenor Connexion’s dedicated telematics solution connects Nissan LEAF’s onboard unit to the Nissan CARWINGS Data Center in a private network environment allowing Nissan to deliver a secure and stable product to our customers,"
said Pierre Loing, Nissan vice president of product strategy and planning.

"We are very excited to work with Nissan, who is playing a major role in setting a standard for the whole EV industry. This agreement is the start of what we expect to be a long-term partnership,” added Telenor Connexion CEO Per Simonsen.
