The Nissan Leaf is one of the first ‘real’ EVs to go into mass production. So far, the Japanese has managed to sell around 13,000 of them and their customers have been mostly satisfied, reporting some problems.
However, not many people have really talked about the Leaf’s performance, concentrating on its limited range which in the real world will never reach the 160 km (100 miles) claimed by the manufacturer. Its claimed 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) is not really stated in any official information that we could find, the car seems to manage the sprint in just under 10 seconds - similar performance to a similarly-powerful diesel.

We have found a few videos showing just how fast it accelerates and to be honest, we were quite impressed, despite the modest power output, the constant torque figure makes its presence felt throughout the drive.
