Yesterday, we were telling our opinion on the stagnation of car sales in 2020 and that there's more to the complex mechanism of the auto industry than enthusiastic press releases on sales.
Today, Nissan announced record sales in the first six months of 2015, a performance that allegedly puts the Japanese carmaker in the number one position on the list of top-selling Asian brands in Europe.

“What we are doing with our brand, our products and our customer service promise is clearly working. We’re delighted customers have continued to put their trust in Nissan to make us the number one selling Asian brand in Europe. We will continue to challenge ourselves to bring more to our customers - more choice, more value and more innovative and exciting products.”

But what is Nissan really doing to get such results? For example, Nissan’s St Petersburg facility in charge with the new X-Trail's assembly reached the production of its 200,000th vehicle.

However, the main boost came from record sales in the first six months of 2015: 384,726 units were sold, an increase of 4.3 percent compared to the same timeframe in 2014.

Nissan's road to the top was also paved by some other factors. For example, new car registrations went up in the first half of 2015 in markets like the UK (+34%), Spain (+18%) and Germany (+11%), allowing Nissan's market share to rise to 4.2 percent.

The bestseller UK-built Qashqai must be brought into discussion here as well, together with the Nissan Leaf EV and the Juke, products influenced by Nissan's investments in R&D.
