These entities will discontinue their commercial partnership, one of the most successful in recent years, one year earlier than originally stipulated. Nissan will also no longer provide light vans to RBR anymore.

The team won four consecutive Formula 1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships, with Sebastian Vettel behind the wheel of his girl-named cars, between 2010 and 2013.

Some might have expected this move, given that it comes just a few days after the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team announced its new partnership with the Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer, which will become the teams’ official timekeeper, watch and team performance partner.

Apart from this, the new engines that will power the 2016 RBR Formula 1 car will be still provided by Renault, but they will carry the name of its newest partner. The new car’s full name will be Red Bull Racing-TAG Heuer RB12.

This move is considered by some as one of the most surprising marketing strategies. The reasons behind it are multiple, but we would mention just one: the Swiss watch manufacturer has been involved in the F1 for many years with the legendary British team McLaren Formula 1, being one of its official sponsors.

It seems that Sebastian Vettel, who is seen as one of the most talented men in this sport, has contributed a lot to keeping together the F1 team, because after he left for Ferrari, everything has fallen apart at the Red Bull-sponsored team. Since then, only a few results worth being mentioned have been achieved by the current line-up, which is one of the youngest on the grid and includes two products of the Red Bull Junior Driver programme, Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo.

The first Grand Prix of the 2016 season will be hosted by Australia, in Melbourne, on March 20.
