Nissan DeltaWing Crash at LeMans

Nissan’s DeltaWing is a real step forward in racing philosophy and technology. The aim of the racecar is to be as quick (or quicker than) conventional racing cars, while being considerably more efficient. However, in practice, these principles don’t seem to impress other competitors using conventional machines, as the video attached here demonstrates.
At this year’s LeMans 24 H race, the 475 kg (1,047 lb) DeltaWing was simply pushed aside and into the wall by one of the Toyota drivers, Kazuki Nakajima - a rookie of the event. Having a considerably lower body weight than any of the other cars, the Nissan was no match for Nakajima’s Toyota.

This may also indicate a rivalry between the two Japanese giants, as Nissan and Toyota do battle on the world’s increasingly green automotive markets, maybe this has transferred to the race track.
