Things haven’t been going so well for one of Nissan’s models in Canada and as a result the company decided to cease offering the particular model to Canadians.
We’re talking about the Versa sedan, a model that hasn’t been doing so well on the Canadian market, selling only 12,297 vehicles last year compared to the 117,352 cars sold in the United States. It seems that the Versa sedan was a more American-focused vehicle and didn’t manage to catch on in Canada.

So, in order to make up for the low number of sold Versa vehicles in Canada, the company decided to offer Canadian drivers the Micra. This particular car was principally designed for the European market and will take the place of the Versa sedan, being offered at a pretty affordable price, AUD9,998.

The company’s plan is to improve their position in Canada and according to Pierre Loing, Nissan vice president for North American product planning “ the Micra will be more to their liking,” sparking their sales. Last year, the company only had a4.7 percent market share and because of this they plan to grow to a 8 percent global market share by 2017.

All in all, Nissan hopes to turn things around and are keen on making the Micra a success on the Canadian market by sacrificing the Versa model.
