Japanese automaker Nissan has previewed the Almera Nismo Performance Package Concept in Malaysia. In case the Almera name doesn’t ring a bell to some of you, the same vehicle is sold as the Nissan Versa in the United States and as the Sunny in India.
Scheduled to enter production later this year in Malaysia, the Nismo Versa/Sunny was enhanced by Nissan’s performance division through an “aerodynamic” body kit that’s supposed to offer greater “handling characteristics with superior agility”. The package includes a competition-like front bumper, a new rear bumper with a diffuser, side skirts, new 17-inch alloy wheels and carbon-wrapped roof and mirrors.
The upgrade also features a lowered sports suspensions, Nismo exhaust system and Nismo decals that complete the car’s sportier look. However, the Versa/Sunny won’t receive a new engine and it will arrive in dealerships with the same 1.5-liter engine that delivers only 99 HP. The new Nismo sedan will be launched for the first time in Malaysia as the Almera, but its Versa and Sunny version will hit other markets shortly after.
In other related news, the 2014 Nissan Versa Note just went on sale in the United States, with prices starting from $13,990 plus a $790 destination and handling fee.
