Nissan has announced excellent world-wide sales for 2012, a year marked by strong sales in Asia, as well as record sales in the United States. The Japanese giant managed to shift some 4.94 million vehicles through 2012, which represents a 5.8% increase over the figures recorded in 2011.
Stateside sales went up by 9.5%, reaching an impressive 1.14 million units sold. The only negative figure from this entire article is, of course, Nissan`s Europe sales figure, which went down by 2.4%, compared to 2011. The precarious state of the Old Continent's economy is affecting not only the local automakers, but also the ones from overseas, which have local production facilities.
World-wide production figures are also up, by around the same margin, increasing by 5.5% to 4,889,379. They also recorded a growth in their Japan production figure, which went up by 3.2% in 2012, reaching a total of 1,148,265 vehicles sold.
Furthermore, their production numbers outside Japan also went up, by 6.3%, reaching 3,741,114 units, of which some 683,661 were made in the US (up 14.6% when compared to 2011). Overall, it was a very good year for Nissan, and aside from the falling Euro market, all numbers are still set to rise even further.
