The Nordschleife Tourstenfahrten is a track day event where you can race what your mama gave you. It can be anything from a van to a Porsche 911 GT3, and on some weekends it can be both.
Crashes are also guaranteed to happen on a track with blind crests, many corners and a design that's not meant for today's cars.

During the event organized on July 19th, we witnessed two quite spectacular crashes. The first and most impressive was a Nissan 370Z. On a somewhat damp track, the sportscar's driver misjudges his entry speed and by the time he reaches the corner it's too late. The Z goes off and despite being slowed by the gravel pit he still plows into the crash barrier.

After that, the Nissan is launched into the air and nearly flips over. The next crash involves another favorite of the Nurburgring racing crowd, the Honda S2000.

With a high-revving VTEC four-cylinder turbo engine, this was an icon of the 2000s. Every youngster dreamed of owning this poor man's Porsche Boxster, and there are still quite a few of them on the road. Sadly, crashes are common and fixing the aging car is tricky, particularly if the chassis has been bent.

Thankfully, this Honda S2000 isn't going to the scrapper. With rain pouring on the track, it spins out when the right front wheel touches the grass and is caught in the gravel trap. By the looks of things, it doesn't even reach the barrier. Sure, it's going to need a tow truck and a visit to the shop, but it did survive to crash another day.
