Not long now, and we'll have the sales results after the first three quarters of 2023 for the North American car market. However, we can place a wager that some things won't change in the least bit.
Judging the performance of the US car market based on the first six months of the year, we can easily assume that, overall, General Motors will continue the fight with Toyota for the crown, followed at a distance by Ford, the Koreans from Hyundai and Kia, plus Stellantis. As for independent brands, Toyota is duking it out with the namesake Ford marque, and it will be tight indeed.
The segments probably won't see any surprises, either – compact crossover SUVs have taken the throne and likely will not budge, even though full-size pickups are not that far behind and yet have a comfortable lead on large CUVs. Speaking of the big, light-duty, full-size pickup trucks we have already seen during the 2023 Detroit Auto Show, the many new faces of the 2024 Ford F-150.
Subtly refreshed for the next model year, the fourteenth generation F-Series continues to hold the crown in terms of nameplates across America, and it's followed at a considerable distance by the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram pickup truck series. Naturally, the facelift will give the 2024 F-150 even more reasons to see customers flocking to Ford dealerships.
That means the battle goes for second place, actually, between Chevy's iconic Silverado and the Ram trucks. So, logic dictates that one of them has to make a move. Well, according to the rumor mill – or, more precisely, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – that one will be GM's division, Chevrolet. The Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; now, there are some CGI ideas about a new Silverado.
According to the channel's host, Chevrolet might be working hard on the research, development, and testing front to ensure its next-generation Silverado will be ready for a fall 2024 presentation or market release. Additionally, the resident pixel master has also envisioned the hypothetical looks of the upcoming fifth iteration of the Silverado 1500 based on recent hints provided by GM Design's stylists.
However, do take all this with a pinch of salt because nothing is official just yet. Meanwhile, the current GMT T1XX model only came out in 2019, and its 2022MY refresh is reasonably recent. Plus, we haven't seen any spied prototypes, leaked patent drawings, or anything else to corroborate the potential release dates. Still, logic dictates that Chevrolet will try to move fast and nail the sweet spot between Ford and Ram's refreshments and new generations of their best-selling full-size light-duty trucks.
