New Porsche Boxster S Wrapped in Pink for Hong Kong Customer

Pink might be the first color you think of when somebody mentions Barbie's Beetle… or Paris Hilton's Ferrari, but a Porsche Boxster S?

The Germans built this thing to be a serious sportscar, not a poser. The 981 generation is lower, longer and wider than the model that came before. It's also more powerful, boasting 315 PS for a very respectable 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 277 km/h.

A Boxster S isn't cheap either. It might be more affordable than a 911 Carrera, but it's still no Honda Civic. German cars in China are also notoriously expensive. We looked up the Boxster S on Porsche's local website and found it starts $996,000 Hong Kong dollars. That's €92,750 for a car that's essentially only good to have fun in.

We don't really get why you'd pink out the Porsche, but suspect the makeover has nothing to do with being girly. It might be that people in Hong Kong view the color as a symbol of good fortune or it might be for showing off. Whatever the case is, this roadster is unlike any other we've ever see. Let's just hope pink cars don't catch on with American rappers.

Giving credit where credit is due, Impressive Wrap Hong Kong did make an immaculate pink wrap with no blemishes, so at least it has that going for it.
