The Italian driver lost his legs during a race back in 2001 when a freak accident put a hold on his Formula 1 and Indy career, claiming the thing he loved the most: racing.

However, he decided that having no legs wouldn’t keep him down and, as soon as he got out of the hospital he started working on getting back into a racing car, to keep doing what he loved.

His comeback was with BMW, using a specially prepared car in the World Touring Car Championship and European Touring Car Championship, Zanardi not only competing in them but also claiming the a spot on the podium on more than one occasion.

After proving what he had to prove behind the wheel, he went on to win two gold medals in the 2012 Paralympics in London and he is now making yet another return to motorsport, once again with BMW, in the Blancpain GT series.

That’s where he’ll be driving one of ROAL Motorsport’s specially designed Z4 GT3 cars. As for how he manages not only to drive the car but also post competitive times, we’ll leave him do the explaining in the video below.
