New Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) Spied on Nurburgring, Manual Gearbox Rumors Grow

Track day aficionados have no reason to fret, though, as Zuffenhausen won't leave us without the facelifted incarnation of the Rennsport Neunelfer. In fact, the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS has recently been spied on the Nurburgring.

With the revamped RS expected to be released next spring, the German automaker isn't rushing to fully bring the test cars into 991.2 condition. To be more precise, while the nose of the supercar is new (notice the 2018 GT3 styling cues), the rear end still comes from the outgoing model.

Speaking of the test vehicle's posterior, the engine compartment of the Porscha will accommodate an even more potent incarnation of the new naturally aspirated 4.0-liter that debuted on the 991.2 GT3.

The engine is expected to deliver at least 525 hp, but the biggest question related to the new 911 GT3 RS powertrain has to do with the tranny.

While the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 has marked the return of the six-speed manual, giving purists reasons to jump for joy, but the track bias of the RS model could see Porsche sticking to the PDK-only recipe.
