With the Frankfurt Motor Show having finally brought us the Touring Package incarnation of the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3, we were all thrilled to see the uber-clean look of the Neunelfer. And we've now returned to the topic to bring you a dark take on the matter.
The black 2018 GT3 Touring Package we have here makes for a bewildering sight and there are at least two reasons for that. First and foremost, taking the motorsport-grade rear wing off the 991.2 GT3 and replacing it with an active one, albeit packing a small Gurney Flap, means we can enjoy the classic lines of the Neunelfer in a way that few other GT Division animals allows us to do. And yes, that hefty diffuser adorning the belly of the beast is shared with the 911 R.

As for the hue seen here, this only adds to the understated look of the car - keep in mind that this clean-looking Zuffenhausen machine is capable of lapping the Nurburgring in a jaw-dropping time - the standard incarnation of the GT3, if we may call it so, managed to get round the Green Hell in 7:12.7, despite relying on just 500 naturally aspirated ponies (nowadays, such an output doesn't make for a spectacular presence anymore).

Nevertheless, there is one thing about the TP that leaves us wishing for more. It all has to do with the rumor about this collection of options involving a 2+2 seating layout. The rumor never came true, with the Touring Package maintaining the GT3's rear seat delete.

We're talking about a no-cost package here, one that sees the 3.8s 0-60 mph sprint of the Neunelfer remaining unchanged. The top speed does drop by 2 mph though, sitting at 196 mph.

We'll remind those of you who are fortunate enough to afford such a rear-engined delight that while the order books opened last week, the first cars won't land until November.

Ok, well now we officially know the new GT3 Touring Package looks amazing in black.
