New Nissan Serena Will Arrive Nov 29th

Nissan announced the launch of the new Nissan Serena minivan, which will go on sale on November 29th, at Nissan dealers. The Nissan Serena is highly appreciated by customers for its spacious, comfortable cabin, drivability and versatility. It was the best selling minivan for three consecutive years, 2007-2009 being sold in over 1 million units in Japan since it was first launched (in June 1991).

The new Serena comes with even more interior openness, due to the larger windows, user-friendly features such as large storing compartments providing added convenience and the best fuel economy in its class, thanks to the newly developed direct injection engine and using the Idling Stop system.

Despite being a minivan, it boasts an elegant design which sets it apart from conventional boxy styling. The front-end features a large front grille enclosed by four large headlights that emphasize its bold look. The impression of sportiness is enhanced by crystal-clear rear lamps and three-dimensional high-mounted stop lamps.

Nissan's new direct-injection MR20DD engine offers incredible fuel efficiency and high torque, accomplished with some help from the direct fuel injection. Benefiting from high low-to middle speed torque, less accelerator pressure is needed, reducing excess fuel consumption. Valve Timing Control improves intake and exhaust efficiency and reduces friction in various detailed parts. The Xtronic CVT is tuned particularly for use with the new MR20DD engine, providing smooth acceleration and response.

The Idling Stop system turns off the engine when the car is stationary, helping Serena achieve impressive fuel-saving results. The car makes use of a belt-type engine cranking system with ECO motor, instead of the conventional gear-type engine cranking system with a starter motor. The advantage is that the engine restart takes a shorter time and is slightly quieter.

The Serena is packed with other high-end safety and environmental technologies such as an auto light system, Vehicle Dynamics Control and Traction Control System, hill start assist and an Auto Speed Control Device. Pricing starts at 2,163,000 yen ($26,600) and goes up to 2,761,500 yen ($34,000).
