The first Kia Cee’d was a bland but competent Golf and Focus rival and with this new version, Kia have considerably stepped up their game, both in terms design and in terms of interior quality.
The new Cee-apostrophe-d will go on sale this June, with a price tag starting at £14,395 (€17,800) in its most basic trim level and fitted with the puniest engine in the line-up.

The engine range consists of two diesels, in the form of the now-familiar 1.4-liter unit with 89 bhp, and the also-familiar 1.6-liter unit with 126 bhp, and two petrol units, also a 1.4 and a 1.6, with 98 bhp and 133 bhp respectively, all coupled to either a six-speed manual or a dual clutch auto.

The car will be offered in 5 different trim levels, all coming with decent kit and very simple denominations: 1,2,3,4 and 4 Tech.

The ‘1’ trim level includes air-con, front electric windows and mirrors, DRLs, cooled glovebox, and iPod and Bluetooth connectivity. An interesting addition to the standard equipment range is a hill-hold system, usually found in larger cars as standard.

The range topping ‘4 Tech’ cars will get everything, from parking sensors and camera. dual-zone climate control, touch-screen sat-nav, to leather front seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, self parking, adaptive Xenon headlamps and large alloys. In its range topping form, the car will set you back £22,495(€27,800).
