Ten years ago, I had the honor of riding in the passenger seat of a drift-spec Nissan S15 with Sumika Kubokawa from Japan. It happened at the Slovakiaring racetrack, and that was when I understood that women can be formidable drivers if they enjoy doing it and practice a lot.
Since then, I've attended several female-only drift events, with girls like Danielle Murphy, Karolina Pilarczyk, Iva Rusinova, Ramona Rusu, and Michaela Sacherova engaging in door-to-door battles on various tracks. I've also worked closely with Daria Ganescu, who won against all the boys in the SSP300 Motorcycle Road Racing category. In recent years, I've had the pleasure of interviewing two big names in Formula Drift: Amanda Sorensen and Kelsey Rowlings.

And let's remember other famous gals in international motorsports like Michelle Mouton! What I'm trying to say here is that it's not exclusively a man's world. And that's obvious in The Fast and the Furious universe as well. Mia and Letty drove several cool cars in the franchise, and then there was Suki in the second movie, Neela in the third one, and you know the list doesn't stop there. Mattel is going through some branding changes with Hot Wheels, but I'll discuss the topic in more detail in a future story.

The thing you need to know is that we'll be seeing more and more cool collectibles from El Segundo soon. And today, we're looking at the new "Women of Fast" set of five cars. At first glance, you might think that this is the same old mix of vehicles you've seen before. But there are some minor changes worth mentioning. And, as small as they may be, it could convince collectors to buy them as soon as they come out.

The first item is Suki's pink Honda S2000, which we saw in 2 Fast 2 Furious. We've seen four more replicas of this car, only one of which was a Premium model. What makes the new iteration different is a set of Modern Muscle 5-Spoke wheels. The RX-8 and the GT40 have the same wheels, and you can expect to see more of them in upcoming collections. Speaking of which, this is the second time we have had a chance at getting Neela's RX-8.

I don't know about you, but I could not buy the First Edition model because scalpers are increasingly proficient at snagging these up before they even hit the shelves. This time around, the MM5 wheels look slightly undersized, and I would rather have the original 10-spoke ones instead.

I think collectors will be more enthusiastic about the Porsche Cayman GT4, though, as this is its first appearance in a Non-Premium series. It looks almost as good as its First Edition counterpart, but at least it features a new wheel design: the Star 5-Spoke model, which we've already seen in the Hot Wagons series. If you can't remember who drove this vehicle in the franchise, maybe Gisele/Gal Gadot will ring a bell?

You might be disappointed to learn that the Ford GT40 in Fast Five was just a replica, but that happens a lot in the movie industry. But you don't have to worry about that when looking at a 1/64th-scale car. It's slightly surprising that Mattel didn't opt for Mia's car from the first movie, but that is probably the plan for the following mix of "Women of Fast." Just like with the other vehicles in this set, we've seen this GT40 before. But at least the new wheel design does a great job at spicing things up.

Just like with Mia's car, I would have rather seen a new version of Letty's S14 than the Custom Corvette Stingray Coupe. But I'm convinced that will happen sooner than later. We've only had one previous Fast & Furious replica of this casting. It was the First Edition model, which came out in 2020 as part of the Premium Quick Shifters series. This new "Women of Fast" mix should arrive in toy stores within the next two months, and there's something you should be aware of.

Every case contains ten cars: the Honda and the Ford are the most common, with three items each. There are two Chevys included, but only one Mazda and one Porsche. So these will be the ones to look for, as they'll be the first to disappear from the shelves. Of course, there's always the option of simply ignoring any non-premium release and focusing on collectibles that can bring serious value to your collection, given enough patience.

Also, I wonder which items will come next besides Letty's S14 and Mia's Integra. I'm still eager to see a replica of the black Civic EJ1 from the first movie, the NSX from Fast Five (which is only available as a Premium model), the Jensen Interceptor from the sixth movie, and last but not least, the BMW M5 E60. I mean, Mattel has already come out with the E34 and E39 versions of the M5; it's about time they bring some good old V10 madness into the equation!
