Since the production of Ford GT supercar ended in 2006, rumors of a third generation have refused to stay quiet, suggesting the legendary name would once again take on the might of Italy’s raging and prancing farm animal with a bit of Dearborn blue collar attitude.
However, most reports coming from official sources were of the “we could” or “we should” do this kind. And while we like optimism, we need a some hard fasts about an arrival date.

During a recent interview of Ford CEO Alan Mulally, along with Ford global product chief Derrick Kuzak held by Automibile magazine, one question about the Ford GT arose. Kuzak was reportedly trying to be diligent about his answer, when Mulally stepped in and said “All I know is, if the ground is wet, they don’t let me drive it [Ford GT].” Adding, “That vehicle levitates.”

“Well I think there are certain things that we don’t want to talk about in terms of four-year product plans, if that’s okay,” Kuzak then added.

Of course, nothing else is known about the car other than the fact that it could arrive by 2016. But ford should throw every technology they want to develop or promote. With the mass introduction of EcoBoost engines on anything from citycars to pickup trucks in America, it’ the perfect time for a turbocharged, AWD supercar, don’t you think?
