Those who were fortunate enough to make it to the list of first 2017 Ford GT owners (many call them the "First 500") are now receiving the Welcome Guide. We're talking about a piece that's aimed at letting owners know what they're in for until their supercar arrives and we're here to give you an example of how such a teasing puzzle piece looks like.
The piece of footage below sees a future Ford GT owner (Brooks of the Drag Times YouTube channel) explaining the guide to us.
And while the almost-7m video deserves your full attention, we'd like to focus on a part that doesn't have anything to do with the Blue Oval, but rather with the people who chose to pay $400,000 on their Ford supercars.
According to Brooks, the future Ford GT owners in Florida have decided to build a group for the purchase. You see, the Welcome Guide explains that one will get to choose his or her Ford GT selling dealer - the buyers are willing to be accepted as a group, most likely by a single dealer, thus aiming to avoid the kind of hefty dealer markups that can sometimes be associated with such exclusive goodies.
At first, it might seem like this is a strange idea that might not work. However, we're talking about people who are asked to deliver a 50 percent downpayment, so their voice will probably be strong enough for the task.
As for why the downpayment is so substantial, Ford is determined to actually sell each and every unit they build. Speaking of which, the first units of the supercar will land in dealerships in December, with the automaker set to build one car per day until October 2020.
Future owners have plenty of events to look forward to, as, for example, in the following weeks they'll receive a production slot, so they'll get closer to finding out when they cars arrive. And that's a very, very good problem to have this season.
