After the world premiere in Paris, the first-ever X7 has arrived at the Los Angeles Auto Show despite being produced in South Carolina. The largest X in the lineup has seating for up to seven, and for North America, the engine lineup starts with the xDrive40i.
What that means in BMW talk is 335 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque from a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, translating to 5.8 seconds to 60 miles per hour. Further up, customers are treated to eight cylinders, two turbochargers, 4.4 liters of displacement, 458 horsepower, and 479 pound-feet with the xDrive50i.

This X7 is much obliged to accelerate to 60 in 5.2 seconds, which is ludicrous for an SUV this large. There’s talk about F94 serving as the codename for the X7 M, which is understood to get the S63 engine from the M5 with no fewer than 600 horsepower. As it stands, the G07 can’t be had with rear-wheel drive in the United States. The question is, would you consider buying an X7 without xDrive in the first place?

Every engine option is complemented by an eight-speed automatic transmission that uses the satellite navigation to save fuel whenever possible. Level up to the xDrive50i and BMW is much obliged to throw in a locking differential for the rear axle, the Dynamic Handling Package, and Off-Road Package. For the most luxurious accommodation possible, the six-seat configuration is the one you should choose from the options list.

Pricing in the United States for the xDrive40i starts at $73,900 while the xDrive50i takes the X7 to $92,600. As if the luxurious SUV wasn’t luxurious enough, the three-panel panoramic glass roof can elevate things one step further.

Six colors are available at launch, starting with non-metallic Alpine White. Metallic finishes include Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Arctic Grey, and Vermont Bronze. Come April 2019, three more colors will be introduced in the guise of Phytonic Blue, Dark Graphite, and Jet Black.

To whom it may concern, the lightest X7 xDrive40i tips the scale at 5,370 pounds. Level up to the X7 xDrive50i, and you’re looking at 5,617 pounds. Last, but certainly not least, the factory hitch upgrade allows customers to tow up to 7,500 pounds.
