The 992 Porsche 911 range is set to receive the base Carrera/Cabriolet soon, with this set to join the Carrera (4)S that was chosen as the debut model. However, aficioandos are more curious about the spiced-up derivatives that are preparing to enter the lineup, with the first one to arrive probably being the new Turbo.
We've been spying the 992 Porsche 911 Turbo for quite a while now, with an image of the supercar having leaked online earlier this year - the photo seems to portray the machine wearing the expected Turbo Aerokit, which brings a more noticeable rear wing compared to the one seen on prototypes such as the one we have here.

Test cars for the newcomer have been spotted in both Coupe and Cabriolet form. For instance, this one is a Cabrio and, if you zoom in on the prototype, you'll notice its packs a carbon wheel on the rear axle, but such tests are only normal.

On the firepower front, Zuffenhausen will probably retire the twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six animating the outgoing 991.2 Turbo. In its quest for superior efficiency numbers, the German automotive producer is expected to introduce an all-new unit.

For instance, Porsche pursued this path when debuting the 2020 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder. The mid-engined specials are powered by an all-new naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer, which is based on the TT 3.0-liter engine of the 992 Carrera S.

Once again, the Turbo should be a PDK-only affair. Of course, the new eight-speed incarnation of the dual-clutch transmission is set to receive a bespoke version for the newcomer.

And with the serious performance boost brought by the generation change, which is owed to updates such as the wider tracks, the 992 Turbo should be able to blitz the Nurburgring in under seven minutes.

We should see the newcomer landing by the end of the year, with this expected to land on the US market as a 2021 model.
