Kawasaki is expanding its Versys range through the introduction of the all-new 2017 Versys-X 300 lightweight ADV motorcycle, perfectly suitable for smaller riders or those who don’t want to spend too much money on such a bike.
The heart of the new Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is the same 296 cc water-cooled parallel-twin engine from the Ninja 300. However, in this case, it is tuned for low and mid-range power delivery along with a soft pull Assist and Slipper clutch. Fine atomizing injectors and dual throttle valves also contribute to a better combustion and a small fuel consumption.
As most modern motorcycles do, a newly designed steel backbone uses the engine as a stress member to keep the rigidity up and the weight down. The dampening is done by long travel 41 mm front forks and a bottom link Uni-Trak gas charged shock at the rear.
Styling was an essential part when creating the new Versys-X bike. The large-volume bodywork features a fashionable adventure styling, also delivering that “big bike look” many riders go for these days.
A comfortable ergonomically designed riding position reveals a large windshield to protect the rider from the elements while wide handlebars aid in- and out-of-town maneuverability. The dash offers a digital gear indicator, dual trip meters, remaining fuel range plus current and average consumption as well as an eco-riding indicator allowing over 400 km (248 miles) on a full tank.
ABS and Euro 4 compliance are coming as standard along with the aforementioned features, while a list of accessories complete the needs of every rider, with stuff like a higher seat, luggage and other touring appointments being among them.
Two special edition models will be available at launch along with the standard model. The Versys-X 300 Urban is fitted with a tank pad, hand guards, center stand as well as a 30-liter top case.
The other special edition model, the Versys-X 300 Adventure, comes with tubular engine guards, tank pad, center stand and two 17-liter panniers.
