The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins have been revealed yesterday, with General Motors bragging about its V8-powered versions being more fuel efficient than Ford's EcoBoost V6.
While the press release has already disclosed pricing and specs for the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8-engined Silverado and Sierra, more details about GM's pickup trucks have been unveiled almost right away.
According to PickupTruck.com, who've been in touch with Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer for the two vehicles, General Motors is considering eight-speed transmissions, twin-turbo V6 engines and light-duty diesels as possible answers to customer's power and fuel economy related concerns.
In addition, both the 2014 Silverado and Sierra will have a maximum towing capacity of 11,500 pounds, but only if the trucks are equipped with max-trailering package. Furthermore, the Silverado Z71 option package will get more than just the usual body stickers.
Just a quick reminder: the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado starts from $24,585, while the 2014 GMC Sierra can be ordered with a base price of $25,085. Both versions are regular cabs.
