You may know Jimmie Johnson as a 300+ km/h (186+ mph) NASCAR driver, but not many people know that during the last eight months, he’s had his very own Chevy Volt, and has used less than a quarter-tank of gasoline.
He has accomplished this by calculating and analyzing his route and driving the Volt in the most efficient way possible for the given route. He seems like a very environmentally-conscious chap, despite the fact that he says he isn’t, and it’s a good addition to his non-racing life, in order to balance out the huge amounts of racing fuel he uses at every race - he barely uses any for his daily commute, which is admirable.
More racecar drivers should be like Jimmie and just drive regular green cars on the road and keep the racing on the track, unlike Lewis Hamilton’s Australian public road slip-up which surprisingly boosted his image further - odd.
