The cage fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg will be streaming live on the current X, formerly known as the Twitter social media platform. If it actually happens, that is. The Tesla CEO has come up with an excuse.
It all started when Elon Musk, the owner of ex-Twitter, current X, replied to a tweet about Meta getting ready to release a new Twitter rival called Threads. The news about the app named "The Twitter Killer" apparently annoyed Musk.

On the platform he paid $44 billion for, last year, and rebranded in June, Musk wrote that the world is going "exclusively under Buck’s thumb with no other options." A social media user warned him about Zuckerberg’s ability to fight. "I’m up for a cage match if he is," Musk replied.

In June, the two tech billionaires agreed to a so-called "cage match" showdown. It was not the best of choices for Elon Musk, since Mark Zuckerberg is trained in mixed martial arts.

Musk has recently posted about completing his first jiu-jitsu tournament earlier this year. He also claimed that he was training for the fight by lifting weights. We don't know how much that can help him. "Don't have time to work out, so I just bring them to work," he explained.

"Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on X," Musk posted on Sunday, announcing that all proceeds will go to charity for army veterans.

Considering Musk’s way of doing too much ado about nothing, it remains to be seen if the fight will really take place. And live streaming is also questionable. The long-advertised Twitter Spaces kickoff event back in May, with the Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announcing his run for president, started with a half an hour delay and had to overcome technical glitches. Musk blamed it on the high number of people who were trying to listen to the audio-only event.

Zuckerberg actually replied to Musk via Threads on Sunday afternoon: "Shouldn't we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?"

He said he was ready for the fight that very day, but would suggest August 26. "Not holding my breath," he joked.

Now Musk is not holding his breath either, but he comes up with an excuse, blaming serious neck and upper back problems and saying that he will do an MRI scan to see how things are going: "May need surgery before the fight can happen." Last year, Musk tweeted that a sumo wrestling match had brought him "eight years of mega back pain." That's a way to get a fight canceled.

If this cage fight thing is serious or it is just a billionaire's joke to amuse people and get attention, we will see towards the end of the month when it is set (or not set, if you go by Elon Musk's latest post) to happen.
