MR Car Design Reveals 360 HP Focus RS

This year's Shanghai Auto Show has just started and New York will soon follow, so there are a many of new cars and concept being announced. Too many, if you ask us! That’s why we are offering much needed relief in the form of a tuning program for one of our all-time favorite cars: the Ford Focus RS.

Erftstadt based tuner MR Car Design has prepared an upgrade program for an already capable hothatch, giving it more of what it already had to much of - power. The German company says this is because they wanted the Focus RS to have the upper hand in a battle with competitors like the Audi RS3 Sportback and the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. A noble undertaking indeed!

In order to achieve this, the aftermarket specialist turned the volume to max, opened up a can of awesome and used forbidden magic to dial the output of the already potent 2.5-liter 305 hp engine to a total of 360 horsepower. This was done by fitting a custom made exhaust system with a downpipe and a 200-cell catalytic converter, a new air filter from K&N. Of course, no such tuning program is done without the aid of an engine remap, and this is no exception.

Unfortunetly, the limitation of the RS’s gearbox and its front-wheel drive platform had their say, so the Ford Focus RS by MR Car Design only offers a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 5.9 seconds.

Increased power and speed meant the car had to be more stable, so the RS received a new coilover suspension from KW as part of MR Car Design's package.
