Enormous motor yachts are not the only way to enjoy lavish comfort while exploring some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Although much more compact, this sailing catamaran boasts the same luxurious features of contemporary superyachts, combined with the unique experience of traveling onboard a sailing vessel. Even after a decade, Mousetrap maintains a glorious reputation.
A yachting enthusiast became the lucky owner of a sailing catamaran back named Mousetrap back in 2012. For more than ten years, he fully enjoyed his new toy. Most luxury yacht owners quickly become serial owners, meaning they switch to bigger and better options on a regular basis.

Plus, they hardly get to spend time onboard their expensive possessions. More often, they share their luxury floating toys with charter customers. Mousetrap, however, enjoyed exclusive ownership for more than a decade and got to travel the world.

This majestic sailing catamaran has proven its prowess throughout the years. It crossed both the Atlantic and the Pacific. It discovered secretive islands and mysterious bays thanks to its shallow draft and streamlined silhouette.

Best of all – during these memorable adventures, it pampered guests with the lavish comfort of a floating five-star resort. Wide social areas, stunning panoramic views, and an oversized jacuzzi are unusual features for sailing yachts this size.

Mousetrap is only 33.5 meters long (110 feet) with a 234 GT volume. Its power isn't about size but about innovative, clever design. Unlike traditional sailing vessels, its interior is free of posts and bulkheads thanks to the carbon fiber arch that holds the mast. It also benefits from the larger beam of catamarans. As a result, Mousetrap is unusually spacious, luminous, and uncluttered, boasting wonderful 180-degree views.

Even to this day, Mousetrap continues to be one of the largest composite sailing catamarans. The multihull design and sail plan were derived from powerful racing trimarans. Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost of VPLP Design is known as an expert in record-breaking racing multihulls and custom catamarans. He was the naval architect that envisioned this beautiful boat's silhouette.

The shipyard that brought this vision to life was JFA Yachts. A boutique shipyard located in one of the most charming regions with a maritime heritage (Brittany, France), JFA has been refitting and building boats since 1993. Its first launch was a 75-foot (22.8 meters) light-displacement sailing yacht christened Kermor (Bretton for "house on the sea"). Kermor was followed by more than 25 new builds and 40 refit projects.

Mousetrap is one of the most well-known JFA Yachts launches due to its reputation as one of the largest carbon-made sailing catamarans. The French designers of Cittolin Polli & Associes created a contemporary interior style that gives off a relaxed, informal vacation vibe.

Up to nine guests can be comfortably accommodated onboard thanks to a four-cabin layout. The owner's suite isn't very big, yet it includes a queen-sized bed, an en-suite bathroom with his-and-her sinks, plus integrated infotainment. For extra privacy, it can be accessed via a separate staircase. All the other guest cabins feature en-suite shower rooms, integrated entertainment systems, and hull windows for plenty of natural light. The separate crew quarters can accommodate up to six people – a generous crew-to-guest ratio for a vessel this size.

The main salon is one of the most inviting areas onboard. In addition to the surprisingly generous space and beautiful panoramic views, this salon offers the advantage of increased flexibility. It includes a well-equipped bar, a large lounge area with plush seating, and a separate area that is great for formal dining but can double as a private office.

The aft deck is protected against the sun and the elements so that it provides the perfect outdoor area for dining in the open air. It also functions as a secondary lounge area. The foredeck reveals another pleasant surprise – a six-person circular jacuzzi.

Spa pools are a rarity onboard sailing yachts this size, especially ones that are so generous. The placement is great, away from the main social and crew areas. Thanks to this, guests get all the privacy they need in order to relax. Plus, it's close to the water level, which makes it great for relaxing after a busy day of swimming and trying out the water toys available onboard. A concealed ladder connects this area to the water without taking up precious space.

The aft deck turns into a luxurious home cinema on the water in the evening. Mousetrap isn't just about performance but also about home-like comfort. It's equipped with no less than eight TVs throughout, each with an integrated custom infotainment system, as well as Starlink connectivity and 5G. As for water fun, the cat comes with a custom X-tender, also made of carbon fiber, a smaller crew tender, diving equipment, and several toys.

The galley is also well-equipped for gourmet meals and extensive journeys in remote locations. It offers generous storage and includes a steam oven and a wine fridge. Performance-wise, it features state-of-the-art load sensor technology, Force-Feedback steering, and a large gennaker. All of this contributed to smooth maneuvering even in harsh weather conditions.

Even after more than a decade and intensive cruising, Mousetrap is well-worth €24 million ($26.4 million). It's up for grabs for the first time since its official debut and claims to be in excellent condition. In addition to being well-maintained, it boasts new engines, generators, and sails. The Southern Spar mast is also guaranteed for another ten years. In other words, this impressive sailing catamaran is perfectly ready for another decade of fun adventures at sea.
