Japanese automaker Mitsubishi announced its new mid-term business plan that aims to boost company sales by 30 percent through 2016. Called “New Stage 2016”, the new plan says Mitsubishi will rely on pickup trucks, SUVs and crossovers to further improve its global sales.
Mitsubishi targets a retail sales volume of 1.43 billion units in 2016, representing a growth of around 30 percent, the car manufacturer revealed, adding that it will try to reach its objective by “increasing the proportion of strategic products - pickup trucks, SUVs and crossover models - to 63 percent of sales volume in fiscal 2016 from 57% in fiscal 2013 and 74% of net sales in fiscal 2016 from 69% in fiscal 2013.”
In addition, Mitsubishi said it will introduce new models of the Triton/L200 and Pajero/Montero Sport, the next-generation Outlander Sport, Delica D:5, and Pajero/Montero/Shogun. The Japanese also aim to increase production ratio of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to 20 percent by 2020.
