Eric Vigouroux Racing (EVR) will tackle the 2014 Dakar Rally with a pair of brand new pickup truck concepts, the French specialist announced earlier this week.
Developed and built in collaboration with Jefferies Racing, the new truck - dubbed Proto VX 101 Rally Raid Concept - is powered by an LS7 Corvette Racing engine that sends power to the wheels via a Fortin sequential gearbox.
The company declined to reveal performance figures, but said the Chevrolet-badged pickup trucks will be driven by Eric Vigouroux and well-known Baja 500 driver BJ Baldwin.
“After several seasons with my Chevrolet Silverado for top honours in the past years we have decided to develop and build a totally new race truck. Based on our experience Jefferies Racing in California, USA, has constructed two competition vehicles. Despite Dakar 2014 being the first real competition for the EVR Proto VX 101 Rally Raid Concept, our goal is to show the world the potential of our team.”
The 2014 Dakar Rally, which is scheduled to run through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, will commence on January 5, 2014 and will end two weeks later.
