Mitsubishi is making more and more steps towards offering a range of eco vehicles and we are now here to talk about one of these moves: the introduction of a plug-in hybrid version of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
According to business daily Nikkei via autonews.com, the Outlander hybrid is set to arrive by April 2013. As we previously reported, Mitsubishi used this year’s Tokyo Motor Show to reveal the PX-MiEV II Concept.
This uses a hybrid powertrain comprised of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two 60 kW (81 hp) electric motors. According to Mitsubishi, the PX-MiEV II offers a driving range of 800 km (500 miles), with an average fuel efficiency of 60 km/ liter (141.1 US mpg; 169.5 UK mpg or 1.7 liters per 100 km).
In addition to that, Mitsubishi will also offer an all-electric light truck, which will be destined for short distance commercial activities. The details are limited so far, but the vehicle should arrive by 2016.
