Mitsubishi Outlander 2WD Reaches Australia

Mitsubishi’s Australian arm announced that it is introducing the two-wheel-drive Outlander as part of its 2011 product range, with the new model using the LS 2WD name.

All the models in the 2011 line-up, including the all-wheel-drive variants, will receive a new power window safety system including driver auto up/down function, and an enhanced brake assist system. In addition to that, a full size spare tire will now be standard on all five-seat Outlander variants and updated alloy wheels will be available on XLS, VR and VRX variants.

Outlander is a tried and trusted brand in the marketplace, and has been praised for its styling, flexibility and technical features,” said Masahiko Takahashi, Mitsubishi’s President and CEO. “However, within this segment there is fast growing demand for two-wheel drive variants, which have a lower entry price. Releasing an economical two-wheel drive variant ensures Outlander will appeal to a much wider range of wagon buyers,

The new two-wheel-drive Outlander LS shares most of the technical and feature specifications of the all-wheel-drive variants and uses a 2.4 liter DOHC 16-valve MPI MIVEC engine. The unit delivers 170hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 226 Nm at 4,100 rpm. The unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission or to an optional continuously variable automatic gearbox.

Our customers need a car that can keep up with them and meet all their needs and the 2011 Outlander does just that. It’s a value packed vehicle designed to delight,” Takahashi added.
