Mitsubishi Announces 2011 Geneva Auto Show Line-up

With this year’s Geneva Auto Show less than two months away, every major automaker is getting ready to bring its best to the event. So is the case with Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi, who has revealed its line-up for the show today.

The highlight in Mitsubishi’s booth will be the global premiere of the Concept Global Small (show model), a concept car of the compact passenger vehicle that is planned for production in March of 2012.

“The features of the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small include good maneuverability and easy operation, an inherent of a compact car, accomplished in to a highly efficient package that can comfortably seat five adults,” Mitsubishi says in a statement for the press.

In addition to that, the CGS is also said to achieve top-of-class fuel efficiency, with CO2 emissions in the mid-90g/km range.

According to Mitsubishi, this is made possible thanks to various key features, including: the usage of an idling stop mechanism, a 1.0 – 1.2-liter class compact engine equipped with a regenerative braking system, weight trimming to the most complex parts, reduced running resistance in the engine, new-generation CVT, brakes, and tires, and a body shape that greatly reduces aerodynamic resistance.

Aside from the Concept Global Small concept car, Mitsubishi also revealed it will bring the i-MiEV European-spec model, the ASX (European-spec model, RVR in Japan, Outlander Sport in the United States) - during press days, which will be joined by the Outlander, the Pajero (Montero or Shogun in some markets), the L200, the Lancer Sportback (Galant Fortis Sportback in Japan), Lancer Evolution (Lancer Evolution X in Japan), and the Colt - during public days.
