Mikuni outs two new Performance Carburetor Kits based on their acclaimed HSR42 units. While the carb is basically the same unit, it's the back plates and mounting parts which make the difference.
The HSR42 Performance Carburetor can be installed on Harley-Davidson Sportsters, Buells and Mikuni claims it will also fit other "Big Twins". What makes it special is the 25% increase in power and torque claimed by Mikuni, when used with an aftermarket exhaust system.
These carburetors come with an 8-ball bearing throttle slide assembly which can be easily mated to the stock push-pull assembly and only requires a small effort for precise operation. The float bowl capacity has been increased to eliminate fuel starvation even in prolonged full-throttle conditions.
The Sportster kit comes with an oval back plate, needed for accommodating this performance carburetor in the stock oval cover. The other kit can be installed on both Buells and Sportsters and comes with no back plate; it can be installed with an aftermarket performance air filter assembly.
