Based on the Chinese-built Roewe 550, the MG6 is the first new MG model since the automaker was acquired by Chinese group SAIC Motor. Introduced back in April 2009, the mid-aged MG6 has been facelifted recently in order to freshen things up a bit.
Principally manufactured in China, the MG6 is shipped to MG's Longbride plant for final assembly. Expected to hit dealerships in late 2014, the updated MG6 boasts with a pair of revised headlights and a new front grille incorporating a larger MG emblem.

Other new visual bits and bobs include a redesigned front bumper adorned with two boomerang-shaped LED daytime lights. At the present moment, MG only revealed the five-door GT-badged liftback MG6, but it's very likely the upmarket four-door 6 Magnette sedan will get the same minor visual makeover.

At the rear we get more modern tail lights and a new bumper design, while new alloy wheels and a few new exterior paint hues complete the MG6 GT's mid-cycle visual enhacements. As for the inside, the British carmaker promises better materials and fit & finish, as well as more technology such as an all-new touchscreen infotainment system and an electronic handbrake.

No words on pricing, but we expect that the entry-level model, the one fitted with the 1.8-liter naturally-aspirated 133 horsepower four-cylinder mill, to sport a similar price (£15,455) as the outgoing MG6 GT 1.8S.
