Mercedes Turns Electric for SWR3 Tour

If you live in Germany and happen to be a listener of the SWR3 radio station, then you might know a thing or two about the “Three days powered by electricity” tour which will take place from March 31 to April 2. Otherwise, this is the perfect opportunity to learn about it.

As most of you know, Mercedes is celebrating this year the 125th anniversary since its first vehicle and, as the popular belief goes, the first vehicle in the world. Mercedes has already announced a wide range of events to be organized throughout the year in celebration of Karl Benz's first patent.

The “SWR3 Three days powered by electricity” is one of those events. The radio station has been the venue of choice for a competition which starting today will offer its 60 winners the chance to experience the electric vehicles manufactured by Mercedes and smart.

In all, the car maker will make available 25 vehicles from both ranges for the tour. An extra five, one belonging to Daimler's partner in electric crime Tesla and the rest to Mitsubishi, Renault, Peugeot and Citroen will also be touring the countryside from Koblenz to Ulm.

"The tour is an excellent practical opportunity to demonstrate the possibilities that e-mobility will offer all citizens in future. This is why we are supporting the SWR3 tour and providing 25 electric vehicles," said Thomas Weber, Daimler member of the Board of Management for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.

"The tour is a great idea. It's really customer-oriented and promises sheer driving pleasure. And because the 60 drivers will convey their impressions live on SWR3 radio to the many listeners, the road show is authentic and shows that with Daimler it is possible to experience the future of driving on the streets nowadays."
