Mercedes-Benz UK division appointed a new President and CEO, in the person of Marcus Breitschwerdt, with the executive set to fill in his new position from April 1st. Breitschwerdt, who is currently President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, replaces Wilfried Steffen, who will serve as Head of Daimler’s Business Innovation Division in Stuttgart.
“I’m very excited by the challenges and opportunities of the UK automotive market and delighted to be joining a Mercedes-Benz organisation that has achieved so much in its rich history over so many decades and over the course of the last eight years with Wilfried Steffen at the helm,” said Breitschwerdt.
Breitschwerdt (49) entered Daimler’s team in 1991 and has occupied various senior roles in marketing, planning and sales, such as Director Marketing Strategy for Mercedes-Benz Cars. He received his current role in 2003. Under his leadership, Mercedes-Benz Canada has more than doubled its sales and market share. In addition to that, he is credited with a strong expansion of the dealer network, as well as with impressive results of the company’s own retail division.
Steffen (55), has been serving as President and CEO at Mercedes-Benz UK since 2003, brining a major contribution to the company’s economic boost.
“It has been a rewarding eight years and I am proud to have worked with such a fantastic group of people, both in MBUK and across our retail network. I am certain that the company will be going strong into the future and will enjoy continued success under Marcus’ leadership,” said Steffen.
