Mercedes Sets Sales Record for November

How things have changed in only one year... In 2009, most the the world's manufacturers were announcing sales figures which previewed a bleak future for one of the world's most lucrative industries. Now, they not only did the tide turn, but the crisis seems to be on a chaotic retreat.

Even with pretty much no Cash for Clunkers-type incentives left in the world, the numbers in 2010 now preview perhaps the brightest future for the industry. The Americans are back on their feet, while the Germans are marching to new sales highs.

Mercedes-Benz, one of the most respected brands in the world, did not only manage to overturn last year's numbers, but has set a new record in terms of sales for November. The all-time record for the month has been achieved thanks to the 105,200 units sold worldwide, which represent a 19 percent increase over 2009. Even more, this is the car maker's 13th consecutive month of growth.

“We can look back on an extremely successful year so far. Mercedes-Benz continues to grow in all regions and our products are coveted worldwide,” said Joachim Schmidt, Mercedes Benz Sales and Marketing vice president.

“The positive development continued last month. We posted the best November sales figure in our company’s history and increased sales at a double-digit rate for the 13th month in a row.”

The fastest growing market for the Germans proved to be, once again, China, with the 68 percent increase in sales amounting to 14,600 units. The most vehicles, 27,700, were sold in the car maker's home market, Germany.
