Ford Blooms in November

The auto analysts have been talking about a great November for carmakers ever since the beginning of the week, and the first numbers forwarded by the manufacturers are proving them right.

Ford, the carmaker which last year survived pretty much unaided from a crisis which nearly sunk GM and Chrysler, posted today its sales figures for November. The numbers show a 24 percent increase compared to a year ago, or 147,338 units sold.

The great November means that Ford has sold 1.74 million vehicles since the beginning of the year, a number which is up 21 percent from the same period of last year. It is also nearly double the size of the overall industry growth and the best figure for Ford since 1993.

“With our strongest-ever line of products, we’re pleased to see more signs the economy is growing and the demand for new vehicles is increasing,”
said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, US Marketing, Sales and Service. “Ford’s broad range of high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles is driving one of our best years ever and positioning Ford to deliver improved results in the future.”

The models which are driving Ford forward are the Fiesta, Focus and Fusion. The recently launched and reinvented Explorer, as well as the new generation Focus, will likely drive the sales numbers to new heights in the months to come.

Ford is so confident, that it plans to build 635,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2011, up 61,000 vehicles (11 percent) compared with the first quarter 2010. Ford adds that it has not changed the production target for the fourth quarter of 2010, which remains set at 590,000 vehicles.
