“As expected, in November we built on October’s positive development and once again significantly increased sales worldwide,” Joachim Schmidt, Mercedes-Benz Cars vice president for sales and marketing said in a release.
“In many markets, we further expanded our position and gained additional market shares. Additional sales momentum will be generated over the next few weeks by the new E-Klasse estate, which reached the dealerships on November 21 and has been a big hit with customers.”
In all, Mercedes scored the highest growth rate among premium brands, selling 88,600 vehicles, up from the 74,400 in the same months last year. Mercedes "blames" this on the good public response to the new E- and S-Klasse, as well as the steady growth recorded in Western Europe, North America, Asia/Pacific, and the BRIC nations.
China, now the fourth largest market for the brand’s vehicles, sold only 8,700 passenger cars last month. Few, some may say, but keep in mind this is almost three times more than last year (or, if you like, 210.2 percent more cars). China is Mercedes-Benz's single market where, since the beginning of the year, a positive result can be seen (59.8 percent).
The only declining market for Mercedes was Japan, where the brand saw a 3.2 percent decrease in sales.
