Following the worldwide trend, German carmaker Audi posted its November sales figures, with the numbers showing an 8.9 percent increase in sales over the same month of 2008. In all, Audi sold in November 82,750 cars, while since the beginning of the year, 870,600 Audis found new owners.
“We’ve already exceeded this year’s target for China in November,” Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi marketing and sales member of the board said in a release.
“Our leadership position there is strengthening us. But sales figures in the Americas and Europe are also developing very well. Worldwide, we’ve exceeded the preceding year’s figures in 42 markets in November.”
As far as markets are concerned, China more than doubled its sales, posting an increase of no less than 101.9 percent, representing 16,503 vehicles sold. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 139,872 cars were sold in the region.
The US posted similar sales with the ones reported last year. Only 6,810 Audis found new homes in the States, with the first eleven months of the year recording a 7.9 percent decrease, with some 73,686 cars sold.
"Thanks to this strong result compared with the competition, the company was able to further increase its share in the premium market – to 8.3 percent over the first eleven months. In other important American markets the number of premium cars sold by Audi increased significantly – in Canada, for example, and in the growth market of Brazil,' Audi says.
