Using the existing platform as a starting point, Mercedes re-imagined the shape of the E-Class for the next year with different front end looks. A lot of changes have been made to basically every panel at the front of the car, resulting in a far superior design with sporty elegance.
Their new headlights comprise all functional elements with a single lens. A couple of L-shaped flowing light elements inside the lens mean the classic four-eyed look we associate with the E-Class has been kept to some degree.
The E-Class is also available with two different grille designs. The basic variant and ELEGANCE equipment line are combined with the classic Saloon grille with 3-louvre look and star on the bonnet. The AVANTGARDE line, meanwhile, incorporates the sports car radiator with central star, and as such offers an independent front-end look with a sporty emphasis.
But even though they likely already have the car ready, Mercedes has never shown what the E-Class Coupe looks like with a facelift. Thankfully, automotive graphics manipulator Theophilus Chin has made these renderings of just such a car. Overall, the sporty effect of the AVANTGARDE line is pulled off to best effect here, on the two-door.
