While Mercedes-Benz used to be well-known for over-engineering their cars, and making them ‘last forever’, the quality and durability of their products took a dive in the mid 1990s, and it has only now just started rising again, along with buyers’ confidence.
However, it seems that gremlins do pop up from time to time, and they have announced the recall of 1,525 B-Class models in China, due to a faulty fuel tank vent valve, which could loosen if the tank is filled with E15 gasoline, which contains 15% ethanol. In time, it could begin to leak fuel, which will probably find its way onto something hot and burst into flames.
The affected cars were manufactured between February 28 and October 8, this year - the recall starts on December 26, and all affected cars will be checked free of charge, and a new fuel tank will be installed, if needed, also free of charge.
