Mercedes Benz Axor 2544 Celebration Series Released

Excited by the setting of a new milestone in its history, as they've reached the 1 million trucks sold threshold, Mercedes Benz's Brazilian branch decided to release a special edition Axor 2544, limited to only 50 units.

The celebration series comes in metallic graphite paint and boasts an unusual cabin design. The cabin is equipped with a cot and an air conditioner as well as driver's seat with pneumatic suspension for increased comfort. The dashboard is as user friendly as it gets, using an onboard computer whose features include a fuel consumption and maintenance indicator.

The celebration series Axor comes equipped with "Top Brake" engine brake, disc brakes on the front and rear axles, ABS, proximity cruise control, and fog lights. It is fitted with two plastic fuel tanks, one holding 500 liters and one with 130 liters.

As for the reason why the new Axor came to be, as we said, Mercedes is celebrating the one millionth truck sold in Brazil, since the launch of production in 1956. In the country, top sellers are the Axor and the Accelo.

"This historic benchmark of one million trucks sold represents an achievement with no precedents among the truck producers of the country. This impressive sales volume reflects customers' confidence in our brand and in the quality and profitability ensured by our products," Philipp Schiemer, Mercedes-Benz Brazil marketing and sales vice president said in a release.

So far, in the first half of 2009, Mercedes Benz had a market share of 28.5 percent in Brazil and is the largest producer of commercial vehicle in South America.
