Mazda has today announced that production of their Mazda2 has begun today at a new facility in Vietnam. This facility was created entirely to produce cars for the local market.
The plant in the Nui Thanh district of Quang Nam province in central Vietnam will roll out about 10,000 cars per year, of which 2,000 will be the sub-compact five-door hatch version of the Mazda2. The excess capacity will be used for assembly of other models for the local market.
"We are confident that the Mazda2 will be warmly accepted by Vietnamese customers despite the extremely competitive compact car segment," said Executive Vice President Kanai of the independent company from Vietnam."Vietnam is one of the largest markets in the ASEAN region, with a large youthful population and promising economic development in recent years. Mazda is strengthening its support of our local manufacturer and distributor in order to ensure our success in Vietnam."
