The launch of an all-new Mazda crossover is closer than ever.
The guys at Popsuv have managed to snap new photos of the vehicle without any disguise. This time, the photographer even got a shot of the crossover’s interior. Like in the previous images, the Mazda crossover was spotted in an undisclosed location without any attempt to mask the vehicle’s origins. The only masked things on this car are the Mazda logos on the rim caps and the front grille and rear trim.
However, you don’t have to be an expert to figure out what maker this car belongs to.
Even after the vehicle in the images has made its way across the Internet, it’s still unclear what name Mazda will use for it. Unlike previous reports, the CX-4 name seems even more likely for this vehicle.
However, using the CX-4 name for this car would imply that the resulting vehicle is smaller than the CX-5. The Koeru concept that previewed this car is larger than the CX-5, and the vehicle in the photo gallery seems to have kept its size since the Koeru was exhibited at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Unlike the exterior design, which has been successfully carried over to this vehicle, the futuristic interior of the Koeru concept was replaced by a realistic version. The result looks like a CX-5 facelift with minor upgrades.
The car photographed in the wild appears to be in the top trim level, as it features a fully loaded interior. The door cards have leather on them while the center console features new trim that mimics the look of polished aluminum.
The layout of the dashboard, instrument cluster, climate controls and radio seems unchanged from recent Mazda crossovers. Not changing the panel isn’t a negative point, since the Japanese crossovers fare pretty well regarding ergonomics and usability.
