Mazda may be working hard to complete the development of an all-new MX-5 / Miata, but the current generation isn’t doing too bad either. We’ll stretch things a little here and use the 25th Anniversary model as an example, telling you that the 100 units of the car sold out in just ten minutes.
The special edition was offered via a dedicated microsite which opened its virtual gates on Tuesday. Mazda was planning to keep things running until May 31 or by the time it reached 250 registrations, which ever came first. Apparently, the latter version was the one to take place and, like we said, it all happened in 10 minutes.

Each one of those individuals will be contacted by Mazda, with the first 100 verified set to be offered the possibility to pre-order the vehicle. The owners are set to receive their cars late this summer, once the 2015 MX-5 range hits showrooms across the US.

The funny part with the Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary is that the carmaker brags it hand-selects multiple engine bits and pieces out of the production lot. The best flywheels, pistons and connecting rods are chosen to make sure the engine ““revs even more freely, delivering an extraordinary response, precision acceleration and a deeply satisfying engine note.”

You can have the 25th Anniversary Miata for US$ 32,205 with the six-speed manual or US$32,655 with the automatic tranny. The starting point here is the Power Retractable Hard Top Miata, which is dressed in Soul Red and gets contrasting body elements, including Gunmental wheels. Bespoke Bilstein shock absorbers are also included. As for the cabin, this is gifted with a white leather finish and sprinkled with special badges.

By the way, if you see a guy wearing a Red Soul-colored Mazda Tourneau watch, you should know he was one of the lucky 100 - the timepiece is on the house for those buying the 25th Anniversary Miata.
