Earlier today, we told you Lotus will give us hardcore versions of its future cars, which will use diets as an important ingredient in their development. Now we’re back with some more Lotus go-fast news. This time, we have a teaser video that allows us to get a taste of the carmaker’s future V8 engine that will be used in the 2013 Esprit.
The unit, which is being developed in-house, should come with a displacement of 4.8 liters. The unit, which is expected to tip the scales at 170 kg (374 lbs), should allow the driver to play with 578 hp and even climb to 629 hp for the R version - the latter is probably going to be used in the aforementioned mean versions of the future Lotus vehicles.
Lotus has released a video teaser for the mill, which allows us to see the unit in action, as well as brings us a few words from company CEO Dany Bahar.
