Developed as the more premium alternative to the Toyota C-HR, the Lexus UX is off to a great start as far as sales are concerned. In order to raise the subcompact crossover’s appeal even further, Modellista jumped on the bandwagon with a suite of visual modifications.
Especially in combination with the F Sport package, the Modellista body kit looks like a million bucks on the UX. To whom it may concern, upgrades for non-F Sport models are also available.

Modellista will bring these accessories to the Tokyo Auto Salon 2019, and so far, there’s nothing to report regarding U.S. and European availability. In other words, this is a JDM affair for the time being.

Lexus hasn’t taken the UX F into consideration as the sportiest subcompact crossover on the block, but an electric option is on the horizon. More or less confirmed by the trademark filing for UX 300e, the EV could use a dual-motor setup considering the hybrid option features an electrified rear axle and it’s called UX 250h.

So far, the UX is available either 200 and 250h flavors. The Audi Q2, on the other hand, is also available with an all-electric powertrain in China. There’s also the SQ2 with 300 PS from the 2.0-liter TFSI, which is an extremely interesting choice in the segment. There’s talk about an RS Q2 later on, which goes to show that Lexus has a lot to do going forward.

Designed for the “Urban eXplorer” in all of us, the UX is manufactured in Japan for all markets where the city dweller is available. In the case demand outperforms supply at some point in the future, Toyota has a factory in France specializes in vehicles based on the Toyota New Global Architecture.

The automaker announced an investment of €300 million in Valenciennes back in January 2018, converting 300 temporary jobs into permanent jobs in the process. By the time full capacity is reached, another 400 employees will be added to the workforce.
