First announced in early June alongside the all-new 2024 Lexus GX 550, the first-ever TX three-row full-size crossover SUV is now in production at Toyota Indiana alongside its sibling, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.
Initially unveiled in early February, it only took the Japanese automaker half a year to kick off production of the highly anticipated 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander in early August, showing that some carmakers don't need years to start building them ahead of the actual sales release of their new models. Now, the same is happening with the 2024 Lexus TX, and the company has closed the gap by needing just five months to kick off the assembly process.

Toyota Indiana not only produces two models dedicated to the North American market – 2024 Grand Highlander and 2024 TX – but when it started production of the first-ever Lexus TX, an all-new, three-row luxury SUV, it also celebrated "a major milestone:" this model is not only the first Lexus for Toyota Indiana, but also the first Lexus CUV assembled in the United States.

Back in 2021, Toyota revealed it would invest $803 million for the production of the two SUVs. "Being designated as a Lexus plant brings honor and prestige to the work we do every day, and it's extremely gratifying to see our team recognized for their dedication and expertise," explains Leah Curry, Toyota Indiana president. With comfort as its ultimate goal, the 2024 Lexus TX "offers substantial space and seating without compromising the innovative technology, refined performance, and luxurious amenities customers expect."

To celebrate the start of production of the 2024 Lexus TX at Toyota Indiana, the automaker is donating $300k to the Koch Family Children's Museum of Evansville's Play-it Forward campaign. Back to the 2024 Lexus TX, the model sits in the higher echelon of CUVs above the UX Hybrid, NX plus NX Hybrid and NX Plug-In Hybrid, RZ, RX plus Hybrid and PHEV, and has a starting price of $55,050. As a quick comparison, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander starts at a little over $43k (sans destination and other charges).

The TX 350 with 275 horsepower (which is a little more than the 266-hp Grand Highlander) is also available with AWD from $56,650, followed by the TX 350 Premium ($58,450 or $60,050) and Luxury ($60,950 or $62,550). Both with AWD, the TX 500h F Sport Performance has Premium or Luxury versions, too, starting from an MSRP of $69,350 and $72,650, respectively. As a bonus, this hybrid version offers up to 366 combined horsepower.

With the Lexus TX, now the premium Japanese automaker finally has a three-row answer to popular luxury CUVs like the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX60, Cadillac XT6, and the newly introduced Mazda CX-90. So, which one would you take home with you?
